The Australian Electoral Company is in the process of counting votes with postal votes not closing until 6pm today, Monday, 30 May 2016.

I am pleased to release the 2015/16 second and third quarter financial statements for the Administration of Norfolk Island (ANI), the Norfolk Island Hospital Enterprise (NIHE) and the consolidated entity.

Prepared as required by the Commonwealth Finance Minister's (Norfolk Island) Orders 2011, the statements are an important tool for demonstrating accountability for public expenditures.

Minister for Major Projects, Territories and Local Government Paul Fletcher has given his powers to me as the Administrator of Norfolk Island to act as Electoral Commissioner for the Norfolk Island Regional Council election.

This decision was made under the Norfolk Island Regional Council Preparatory Election Ordinance 2016.

The 2014-15 Annual Report, audit reports and audited financial statements for the Administration of Norfolk Island (ANI), the Norfolk Island Hospital Enterprise (NIHE) and the Norfolk Island Government Tourist Bureau (NIGTB) have been published today.  

These provide a summary of each entity's operational and financial performance in 2014-15 and are key tools for demonstrating accountability to the Norfolk Island community regarding performance in delivering services and the expenditure of public monies.

There will be more opportunities for travel between Norfolk Island and mainland Australia as Air New Zealand has announced more flights in 2017.

The airline will be increasing flights on its Sydney-Norfolk Island route between November 2017 and February 2018 and there will be an extra flight on its Brisbane-Norfolk Island route in May 2017.

Senior officers from Austrade and Tourism Australia will hold a public seminar on Norfolk Island on 30 May 2016 to explore, and strengthen understanding of international markets.

Time: 10.00am - 12noon, Monday, 30 May 2016
Venue: South Pacific Resort Hotel, Norfolk Island

The speakers at the seminar will be Mr John Brand, Australia's Consul-General and Senior Trade Commissioner to New Zealand, and Mr Leigh Sorensen Tourism Australia's General Manager of Industry Relations.

Fuel prices will fall by up to seven cents per litre for residents of Norfolk Island from today as a result of lower supply prices.

Fuel prices will fall further from 1 July 2016 when Norfolk Island GST is removed from the wholesale price.

The latest supply price savings will be fully passed on, resulting in new wholesale prices of $1.53 per litre for unleaded petrol and $1.52 per litre for diesel.
