The Australian Government is transitioning the delivery of workers compensation arrangements for Norfolk Island to the new service provider, Gallagher Bassett. The new arrangements will commence in January 2021.
From 1 July 2016, the local workers compensation scheme has been delivered by Norfolk Island Regional Council (NIRC) on behalf of the Australian Government. Due to potential conflict of interest issues as the Island's largest employer, NIRC has advised the department they are not in a position to provide this service on behalf of the Australian Government into the future.
The department is now working with NIRC to move the workers compensation arrangements to Gallagher Bassett Services Pty Limited, which was selected as the new service provider following an open tender process. Gallagher Basset Services Pty Ltd are experts in claim management, with extensive experience in workers’ compensation.
