
Christmas Island is located in the Indian Ocean, approximately 2600 kilometres north-west of Perth* and 490 kilometres south-west of Jakarta, Indonesia (approximate figures using international airports). The Island has an area of around 135 square kilometres, and includes the Christmas Island National Park (85 square kilometres), which is administered by Parks Australia.
