Application for permission to operate without a noise certificate (adventure flights/airshows)

This form is for use by owners of aircraft that do not have noise certification who wish to apply for an exemption to operate under Regulation 14(3)(d) of the Air Navigation (Aircraft Noise) Regulations 2018.

Propeller driven aircraft designed and used exclusively for aerobatics, fire fighting, or agricultural operations are not subject to the Air Navigation (Aircraft Noise) Regulations 2018 and do not need to apply for permission to operate without a noise certificate. This form should be used by applicants who intend to operate adventure flights, or participate in an air display approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

The department requires an application be submitted at least 10 business days prior to a planned event or flight.

Consultation and Endorsement Documents

Section 15 of the Regulations require the owner or operator of an aircraft that is to perform adventure flights to consult with the operator of the aerodrome from which the aircraft will perform the flights, and the local governing body for the locality (if it is not the operator of the aerodrome).
