Classification of online films and computer games is important to the Australian Government.
We provide operational and policy advice on classification issues to the Minister for Communications, provide administrative support to the Classification Board and the Classification Review Board, promote compliance, and provide classification training for both boards, industry and government bodies.
The National Classification Scheme is run jointly between the Australian Government and the states and territories. It commenced in 1995 and covers the classification of both physical and online films, computer games and some publications.
