Australian-funded ITU development projects

Through ITU development projects, Australia is working to close digital divides globally.

Since 2004, Australia has supplemented its annual Member State contribution to the ITU with around an extra $850,000 each year to support development projects in the Asia-Pacific.

These development projects enable telecommunications and ICT capacity-building activities in the region. Current projects include:

  • Accelerating Digital Transformation in Asia-Pacific
  • Connect2Recover – Digital Infrastructure and Ecosystem Reinforcement Against COVID-19 in Asia-Pacific
  • Creating a Circular Economy for Electronics and Electricals in Thailand and in Mongolia
  • Addressing the Special Telecommunications/ICT needs of the Pacific Small Island Developing States

Further information on these projects and others in partnership with the ITU Development Sector are at the ITU website: Our common work with selected partners.
