Through ITU development projects, Australia is working to close digital divides globally.
Since 2004, Australia has supplemented its annual Member State contribution to the ITU with around an extra $850,000 each year to support development projects in the Asia-Pacific.
These development projects enable telecommunications and ICT capacity-building activities in the region. Current projects include:
- Accelerating Digital Transformation in Asia-Pacific
- Connect2Recover – Digital Infrastructure and Ecosystem Reinforcement Against COVID-19 in Asia-Pacific
- Creating a Circular Economy for Electronics and Electricals in Thailand and in Mongolia
- Addressing the Special Telecommunications/ICT needs of the Pacific Small Island Developing States
Further information on these projects and others in partnership with the ITU Development Sector are at the ITU website: Our common work with selected partners.
