The Evaluation Strategy 2024-27 and associated Action Plan aims to provide a roadmap for:
- Enhancing how the department plans and undertakes policy and program evaluations
- Improving how we use evaluation findings to help inform and improve policy and program design and decision-making, and
- Supporting the development of evaluation capabilities, and more broadly, a culture of evaluation and learning across the department.
The Strategy has been developed following extensive consultation across the department, and is informed by whole of Government initiatives, including the Commonwealth Evaluation Policy and the Australian Centre for Evaluation in Treasury.
The Strategy focuses on new and existing, externally-facing policies and programs, and includes 14 actions across three strategic objectives.
