- s 303 - the ACMA may conduct research into and compile, and publish in any way it thinks fit, information about: allocation and use of spectrum; market demand and prices paid for spectrum; charges fixed by the ACMA, including discounts or exemptions; social, economic and environmental effects of radio transmission; supply, manufacture and operation of devices; standards; and any other matter relating to radiocommunications or radio emissions.

- s 10(1)(h) - the ACMA has the broadcasting, content and datacasting function to conduct or commission research into community attitudes on issues relating to programs and datacasting content.

- s 9(1)(i) - the ACMA has the spectrum management function to monitor, and to report to the Minister on, the operation of each Act specified in s9(1)(h).
- s 10(1)(n) - the ACMA has the broadcasting, content and datacasting function to inform itself and the Minister on technological advances and service trends in the broadcasting, Internet and datacasting industries.
- s 10(1)(q) - the ACMA has the broadcasting, content and datacasting function to report to, and advise the Minister in relation to the broadcasting industry, Internet industry and datacasting industry.
- s 10(1)(r) - the ACMA has the broadcasting, content and datacasting function to monitor, and report to the Minister, on the operation of each Act specified in s 10(1)(o) and s 10(1)(p).
