Regulation impact statement on independent price regulation of heavy vehicle charges

In November 2017, the Transport and Infrastructure Council asked for a COAG Regulation Impact Statement (RIS) to be developed to inform a decision on whether to implement independent price regulation, as part of the COAG Heavy Vehicle Road Reform (HVRR) work.

The RIS was completed by Marsden Jacob and Associates. A copy of the final Regulation Impact Statement is available at: ris.pmc.gov.au/2019/12/17/independent-price-regulation-heavy-vehicle-charges

After receiving the final RIS in November 2019, the Transport and Infrastructure Council directed that public consultations take place on a package of reform elements, including independent price regulation. More detail on these consultations is available at the consultation page.

The 2018 background paper “Changes to heavy vehicle road delivery” DOCX: 3386 KB PDF: 448 KB contains information on the broader HVRR work.
