National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification (NCOP)

The National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification (VSB 14) has been prepared by members of the Australian Motor Vehicle Certification Board Working Party in consultation with industry, user groups, government agencies and individuals with an interest in modifying light vehicles and/or building individually constructed light vehicles (ICVs).

VSB 14 is a ‘live’ document and will continue to be revised and updated as required.

VSB 11—Certification of Road-friendly Suspensions

As a key part of the cooperative national road transport reform process a number of jurisdictions implemented increases in mass limits for heavy vehicles fitted with road friendly suspension on some routes (there will also be a mass management accreditation requirement for tri-axle vehicles).

Regulator Performance Framework

The Australian Government is committed to reducing the cost of unnecessary or inefficient regulation imposed on individuals, business and community organisations.

The Regulator Performance Framework (the Framework) has been developed to support Australian Government regulators to measure and improve their performance, particularly in adopting consistent, risk-based approaches to administered regulation.

Asbestos in vehicles

The importation of asbestos into Australia is prohibited. An Australia-wide ban on the manufacture and use of all types of asbestos and Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) took effect on 31 December 2003. Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws in all states and territories prohibit the supply, transport, use, or handling of asbestos unless an exception or exemption applies.
