The Australian Government established the Cities and Suburbs Unit to deliver on its urban policy agenda. It has also committed to establishing genuine partnerships between the three levels of government, business, and the community.

Research & data

We undertake research and data analysis to support evidence-based policy through the Bureau of Communications, Arts and Regional Research (BCARR) and the Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE). The work of our two bureaus informs Australian Government policy and wider community understanding on infrastructure, transport, regional development, communications and the arts.
