The National Road Safety Strategy 2021-30 has been launched, setting the direction for Australia’s road safety for the next decade.
Australia’s new National Road Safety Strategy 2021-30 has been released. Developed by the Australian, state and territory governments and the Australian Local Government Association, the Strategy includes key priorities for action over the next decade to reduce road trauma and identify areas where improvement is needed most.
The Strategy adopts ambitious targets to reduce road deaths by 50 per cent and serious injuries by 30 per cent by 2030. Based on the globally recognised Safe System approach, it involves everyone having a role to play in road safety—from governments to the community—to reach these ambitious targets and Vision Zero (zero road deaths and serious injuries on our roads) by 2050.
Road safety campaigners and advocates, researchers and the community were consulted in developing the Strategy. Their feedback played an important part in shaping the Strategy.
