Update on Norfolk Island PFAS response

The Australian Government is close to finalising the detailed investigation into elevated levels of per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at the Norfolk Island International Airport, and the implementation of a range of management and remediation measures.

Senversa and the expert PFAS team are planning to return to Norfolk Island in early 2022 to present the results of the Detailed Site Investigation, with elevated PFAS levels at the airport relating to the historical use of firefighting foams there.

Supporting sea freight availability for Norfolk Island

The Australian Government continues to actively progress planning to support the availability of freight services to Norfolk Island, and is working closely with industry and the Norfolk Island community to identify solutions to address the current supply chain challenges.

Update on state services transition

The Australian Government continues to work closely with the Queensland Government to finalise transitional arrangements for the Norfolk Island Central School (NICS) and the Norfolk Island Health and Residential Aged Care Service (NIHRACS).
