From discussions with the Administrator Eric Hutchinson and Mayor Robin Adams, the Department has sought advice from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to clarify tax arrangements in circumstances where people may wish to have a second job.

Tourism numbers are improving

Norfolk Island tourism numbers have increased in recent years. The 2016–17 financial year had the highest number of overnight visitors to Norfolk Island since 2007–08 and the 2017–18 financial year is projected to have strong tourism numbers.

Freight flights to remove freight backlog

To ease the backlog of materials that have accumulated in recent months, the Australian Government has arranged two freight-only services to fly to Norfolk Island, from Sydney and Brisbane, on the 22 and 23 May 2018.

KAVHA Update
