Repatriation flights for Norfolk Island

The Australian Government has been urgently working to restore air services to and from Norfolk Island, in collaboration with Air New Zealand and Qantas.

We are pleased to announce that repatriation flights will be run between Sydney and Norfolk Island and Brisbane and Norfolk Island on Sunday 31 January 2021, delivered by Qantas. Flights between Brisbane and Norfolk Island will also be available on Monday 1 February, Tuesday 2 February and Wednesday 3 February, with connecting services to Sydney and other mainland Australian cities.

Air New Zealand will be proactively making contact with all passengers with an existing Air New Zealand booking who have been affected by cancellations (including those who have previously notified my Office of an urgent need to travel) with the option to be reaccommodated on one of the above Qantas flights, to cancel their booking and receive a full refund, or to receive a credit to use for future Air New Zealand flights.

Passengers who wish to travel and do not have an existing booking with Air New Zealand can book flights by calling a priority line +61 2 8222 2422, online via qantas.com or via their travel agent.

In the coming days I will provide a further update regarding air services to and from Norfolk Island after Wednesday 3 February.

I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we have worked together on a good solution for the residents and visitors to Norfolk Island.
