The purpose of the 2022–23 October Portfolio Budget Statements (PBS) is to inform Senators and Members of Parliament of the proposed allocation of resources to Government outcomes by agencies within the portfolio. Agencies receive resources from the annual appropriations bills, special appropriations, standing appropriations (including special accounts), and revenue from other sources.

Each year, our staff are invited to participate in the Australian Public Service (APS) Employee Census. The Census is an annual engagement survey asking staff their views on areas including job satisfaction, leadership, wellbeing, innovation and communication. The 2022 Census was open to staff from Monday 9 May to Friday 10 June 2022.

89% of our staff participated in the Census, and the results show a strong improvement from 2021. All six Index Scores have improved since 2021, with the largest improvement to our Wellbeing Policies and Support index, improving by 5 points.
