CR 146A: Vehicle speeds and the incidence of fatal pedestrian collisions. Volume 2: Case data

Document
Document
The aim of this study by the NHMRC Road Accident Research Unit was to estimate the likely effect on pedestrian fatalities of a reduction in vehicle travelling speed. Results were based on detailed investigations of 176 fatal pedestrian collisions in the Adelaide area between 1983 and 1991.

CR 137: Lower Limb Injuries to Passenger Car Occupants (1994)

Document
Lower limb injuries occur to front seat occupants in more than one in three head-on casualty crashes. A study was undertaken to determine the various types of injuries, the sources of injury inside the vehicle, and the mechanisms of injury.

CR 146: Vehicle Travel Speeds and the incidence of Fatal Pedestrian Collisions (Volume 1)

OR 14: A Comparison of Fatal Crashes involving Male and Female Drivers

Document
This report examines differences between male and female drivers in terms of travel characteristics, fatal crash risk, fatal crash characteristics and factors affecting injury outcome.

CR 138: Crashes Resulting in Occupant Fatalities: Frontal Impacts (1994)

Document
This report describes crashes in which car occupants were killed as a result of frontal impacts. Frontal impacts account for just under half of road crashes in which car occupants are killed and in Australia over 500 persons were killed in 441 cars involved in fatal crashes in 1990.

CR 141: Analysis for Drugs in Saliva (1994)

Document
The results are reported of research investigating the use of saliva analysis as a research tool in determining drug usage by drivers who have not been involved in crashes.

CR 130: Young Driver Research Program: Review of Exposure Reduction Measures (1994)

Document
There are potential road safety benefits to be obtained from reducing the opportunity for young drivers to be involved in road crashes, that is, by reducing their driving exposure.

CR 151: Young Drivers Research Program: The Young Driver Problem versus the Young Problem Driver Problem. A review and crash data analysis (1994)

Document
The concept of a young problem driver sub-group, that is, a sub-group who operate at a (substantially) higher than average crash risk and therefore contribute disproportionately to young driver crashes is often proposed.

CR 140: Drugs and Traffic Safety (1994)

Document
This report reviews evidence which has been obtained in Australasia and elsewhere concerning the roles of drugs (prescription, over-the-counter and illicit) in traffic violations and crashes.

CR 148: Young Driver Research Program: Qualitative Dimensions of Young Driver Exposure as a Function of Time of Day (1994)

Document
Document
This report involves the exploration of the qualitative dimensions of young driver driving exposure, and how these differ during the day compared to night-time.
