Expressions of Interest for the Kingston and Arthur’s Vale Historic Area Community Advisory Group

Expressions of interest (EOIs) are sought from people in the Norfolk Island community interested in joining the Kingston and Arthur’s Vale Historic Area (Kingston) Community Advisory Group (CAG).

The Kingston CAG was established in 2019 to provide members of the community with greater input to the management and conservation planning and actions at Kingston. The Group aims to provide a regular forum to improve the sharing of information about projects, issues and ideas for the site.

I sincerely thank the current Advisory Group members for their commitment to Kingston and its future development. They have gone above and beyond to provide constructive feedback and suggestions that have helped inform the direction of a range of projects at the site. In recognition of their valued contributions, I have invited each of the current eight members to continue for a second term.

With the CAG having up to 12 members, people with a wide range of interests and backgrounds are encouraged to apply to join the current members in representing the views of the community. This includes people with cultural and heritage interests and expertise; people living, working or operating businesses at the site; people with expertise relating to the natural environment, land use management and planning; and recreational users in the community. Younger members of the Norfolk Island community are also encouraged to apply.

Members will be appointed as individuals that collectively reflect a broad cross-section of the community, not as representatives of a particular organisation or interest group.

Interested community members are encouraged to submit an EOI demonstrating:

  • a strong interest in improving and conserving Kingston
  • relevant knowledge and experience
  • a proven ability or capacity to respect diverse points of view, participate effectively in a meeting setting, and liaise with members of the Norfolk Island community, private sector and government agencies.

EOIs should address the selection criteria, include the names and contact details of two referees and be no more than two pages. Please email completed EOIs by 5pm local time on Monday, 6 December 2021 to KAVHAsecretariat@infrastructure.gov.au.

Additional information is in the Kingston Community Advisory Group Terms of Reference and selection guidelines available at kingston.norfolkisland.gov.au/projects. If you would like to find out more, please contact Mr Martin Purslow, Commonwealth Heritage Manager, on +6723 23177 or via martin.purslow@infrastructure.gov.au.
