In response to the community feedback received as part of the consultation conducted in September, KPMG and design services contractor GHD Pty Ltd will be conducting a further round of on-Island consultation on the initial design concepts for the Norfolk Island Multipurpose Health Services Facility (MPHS) in the last week of October.
The MPHS project team will be testing updated design concepts with the community and stakeholders, based on the previous feedback received.
Due to the easing of travel restrictions, the ACT and QLD-based project team members will be hosting the community drop-in sessions on Island at the following dates and times, at the South Pacific Resort Hotel (Taylor Road, Burnt Pine):
- Wednesday 28 October between 3.00 pm–6.00 pm
- Thursday 29 October between 9.00 am–12.00 pm
The community will be able to view proposed floor plans and additional design material and speak directly to the project team. There will also be stakeholder briefings with councillors, Council, NIHRACS, the Council of Elders and adjacent landowners.
All consultations will be undertaken in line with COVID safety requirements, including appropriate limits on people in the sessions. We appreciate the community's support for these measures so you can all obtain information and ask questions in a COVID-safe way.
The initial design and consultation materials will also available to the community on the Departmental website from 26 October at www.regional.gov.au/territories/norfolk_island/norfolk_island_health_services/Multipurpose-Health-Services-Facility-Project.aspx.
There will also be feedback forms and a secure box to leave queries and comments.
Written feedback can then also be provided in coming weeks, through territories_projects@infrastructure.gov.au, closing on 6 November 2020.
It is important to keep in mind that these consultations are part of the design stage for the project. Progression to the construction stage is subject to Government budget and parliamentary approval processes which are anticipated to commence in late 2021.
If you have any questions in relation to the ongoing consultations, please contact the Office of the Administrator by email: office.administrator@regional.gov.au or phone 22152.
