Additional passenger flight for Norfolk Island

I am pleased to announce the Australian Government is supporting an additional flight between Norfolk Island and Brisbane, with the new schedule commencing 13 October.

Air New Zealand currently provides two passenger flights arriving on Norfolk Island each week, one from Sydney and one from Brisbane.

The additional flight from Brisbane, which will bring the schedule to three flights a week, will help meet increased passenger demand and reflects the importance of bringing travellers back to Norfolk Island.

We will continue to ensure the flight schedule to Norfolk Island reflects passenger demand, as well as COVID-19 related travel restrictions—the timetable is subject to continual monitoring and review, with scheduling informed by flight booking records.

Air New Zealand, with Australian Government support, is committed to continuing to deliver critical passenger and freight services to Norfolk Island. This commitment has been clearly demonstrated through the Government's ongoing provision of services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and its commitment to supporting Norfolk Island and its community and economy through the COVID-19 response and recovery.

I will continue to support the local tourism industry and the Norfolk Island Regional Council in marketing and promoting the Island as a travel destination through media interviews and stakeholder engagement on the mainland.
