Due to ongoing weather conditions, the Army water purification and desalination system at Cascade Pier will remain on Norfolk Island until 13 March.
The system arrived on island on 7 February, was set up the following day at Cascade Pier, and began producing desalinated water for community members in need.
More than 200 properties and business have received much needed water supplies and the tanks at community locations including the Norfolk Island Central School (NICS), Norfolk Island Health and Residential Aged Care Service (NIHRACS) and Norfolk Island Regional Council (NIRC) have also been replenished.
Residents and businesses can obtain water by contacting Customer Care on 22244, freecall 0100 or afterhours, 55254 to register their need. Water will be delivered in order of priority.
My office will keep the community informed. In the interim, should you have any enquiries, please contact the Office of the Administrator by email: office.administrator@infrastructure.gov.au.
