Update on Norfolk Island multipurpose health services facility project

The Australian Government is preparing for the next phase of the Norfolk Island Multipurpose Health Services Facility (MPS) project.

As most residents would be aware, the project was established to develop the initial and detailed business cases which will lead to the Australian Government’s consideration of funding approval for a new MPS for the Island.

A request for expressions of interest in design consultancy services will be released on 23 September.

Following the appointment of a consultant, potential design solutions will be explored with the community and local stakeholders during design development, in line with the principles of the Community Engagement Framework.

The next round of community consultation and feedback on the draft Health Services Plan is also scheduled to occur between October and December this year. Feedback from the community on the 2019 Plan will help inform the future delivery of health and residential aged care services including the new MPS facility.

While there is still further work to be done in relation to the new facility, the Government, myself and the Department, are committed to working with the community to ensure optimal outcomes.

If you have any questions about the MPS project or the Health Services Plan prior to the next round of consultations, please contact the Office of the Administrator by email: office.administrator@regional.gov.au or phone 22152.
