Upgrades to dining in residential aged care

The recently completed extensions to the dining and common room at the Norfolk Island Health and Residential Aged Care Service (NIHRACS) facility have provided aged care residents with more room to gather for their meals and meet with friends and family members.

The project was funded by the Australian Government as part of its commitment to improving community infrastructure on Norfolk Island.

I spoke with residents during my most recent visit to the facility, and was very pleased to hear the positive responses to the increased space and light that has been created.

The works included constructing a new ramp from the dining room to the garden to provide residents with better opportunities to access the aged care gardens.

My thanks to the local tradespeople who completed the works, and Manteena for their design and project management services.

With the design work for a new purpose-built health and aged care facility for Norfolk Island continuing, the upgrades to the existing facility will improve the quality of care provided to aged residents while Government makes decisions on a new facility.
