Applications are now open for a Regional Investment Officer (RIO) to promote and facilitate economic development on Norfolk Island.
This is part of the Regional Development Australia (RDA) program which brings together all levels of government, business and community groups to support economic development in Australia.
Having seen firsthand the value in terms of resources and skills the national RDA network can bring, I am pleased there will be a full time person based on Island to support opportunities for the community.
The RIO will be employed through the RDA Mid North Coast, a well-established RDA located in Port Macquarie, in order to ensure that the RIO has access to professional advice and support from the national RDA network.
This position will build on the economic development work of the Norfolk Island Regional Council including recent contribution made by the Hindle Enterprise Group.
The RIO will be a specialist regional development professional who will work within the Norfolk Island community to promote development with a focus on attracting investment, creating local jobs, and driving innovation and economic growth.
Being the connector between local council, local and mainland businesses, and government, the RIO will help attract business investment and partnerships to Norfolk Island. They will help create new business opportunities and jobs for local residents. The RIO will also assist the community to be successful in their grant funding applications and project proposals focusing on local priorities.
If members of the community are interested in applying for the role, the application pack can be found at www.rdamnc.org.au. Enquiries should be directed to Jenni Kew operations@rdamnc.org.au. Applications for the position close at 5pm (AEDT) on 2 February 2018.
