25 November is White Ribbon Day. This day marks a national, male-led campaign to end men's violence against women.
I will be inviting the Norfolk Island community to stand up and join me with your support (along with the many supporters across Australia, and globally) through participating in events to raise awareness and community discussion of these important issues.
Saturday 25 November—Afternoon Community Event at Government House
You are invited to a family event at Government House in the afternoon of Saturday 25 November. There will be a range of activities for the whole of family, including a free sausage sizzle hosted by the Lion's Club. The event will be supported by local leaders, the child welfare officers and community groups.
I will also be asking those in the community who wish to take the White Ribbon Oath, to join me in a public pledge in the afternoon.
Globally, White Ribbon is the world's largest male-led movement to end men's violence against women. Originating in Canada in 1991, White Ribbon is now active in more than 60 countries. www.whiteribbon.org.au
More details about the event timing and activities will be advertised in the coming weeks.
