I am pleased to announce that Senator the Hon Fiona Nash, Minister for Local Government and Territories, has appointed Ms Wendy Cull to the office of Chief Magistrate of the Court of Petty Sessions of Norfolk Island, for a period of five years commencing this week.
Prior to her appointment as Chief Magistrate, Ms Cull was a Magistrate of the Queensland Magistrates Court for 14 years. During her tenure as a Queensland Magistrate, Ms Cull undertook regular circuits to Far North Queensland’s regional communities. As such, Chief Magistrate Cull brings a wealth of experience and skill to the office of Chief Magistrate of the Court of Petty Sessions.
Chief Magistrate Cull’s appointment follows the retirement of the previous Chief Magistrate of the Court of Petty Sessions, Judge Warren Donald, earlier this year.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend thanks to Judge Donald for his service to the Norfolk Island community throughout his six years as Chief Magistrate. On behalf of all on Norfolk Island, I wish Judge Donald a long, fulfilling and peaceful retirement.
