Australian Government funding for small business and private sector skills development on Norfolk Island

Media Release

05 February 2016

Ongoing investment in the positive future for Norfolk Island continues with additional Australian Government funding for small business and private sector training and development on Norfolk Island.

This will be supported by the Office of the Administrator and the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development and delivered over coming months by experienced and qualified trainers, with a focus on supporting business and professional development in establishing and running small business.

This funding will also support training and skills development in key industry sectors on the Island, including but not limited to tourism, retail, food services, construction and other trades, and farming.

We plan to engage experienced training partners to provide opportunities to access specialist business information services and opportunities to help update or obtain vocational qualifications for those experienced and currently working in the field.

This will build on the Australian Government's engagement with the community to date through the Australian Government Information Centre, and the various visits and information sessions conducted on Norfolk Island by Australian government agencies.

Details about specific business development and training opportunities will be provided in due course, including to seek expressions of interest from those seeking to participate.
