Her Majesty The Queen

04 September 2015

This coming week Her Majesty The Queen becomes the longest reigning British Monarch in history.

Of course, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is our Head of State as Queen of Australia.

Her Majesty ascended to the throne on the death of her father King George VI in the early hours of the morning of 6 February 1952.

Her Majesty's coronation was held on 2 June 1953.

Changes to time keeping and calendar practices since 1837 has made calculating the exact moment she becomes the longest reigning Monarch an interesting topic for some. However what is clear is Her Majesty, will have reigned 63 years 7 months and 3 days by this Friday 11 September 2015.

What is also clear is the exceptional and inspiring service Her Majesty has given for so long to so many generations of people throughout the world.

Like no other Monarch in history, Her Majesty has travelled extensively to meet every-day people throughout the Commonwealth and other parts of the world.

It is right for us to celebrate Her Majesty, especially this week.
