Employment officials to engage with local businesses

Media Release

14 August 2015

Australian Government Department of Employment and Fair Work Ombudsman staff will be on Island to meet with local employers throughout the week commencing Monday 17 August 2015.

The meetings are a ‘listen and learn’ exercise which will be used to develop the best approach to implement the federal workplace relations system on Norfolk Island.

Australian Government staff will also consult with the Executive Director, Peter Gesling, the Norfolk Island Advisory Council, the Norfolk Island Public Service Association, the Chairman of the Norfolk Island Employment Conciliation Board, and individual employers.

If you are a Norfolk Island business which employs staff and you are interested in discussing your current employment arrangements you are encouraged to make an appointment to meet at the Australian Government Information Centre. Call 23465 to make an appointment.

Once implementation arrangements are settled, the Department of Employment and Fair Work Ombudsman will work with employers and employees so everyone will better understand their rights and obligations.

Administrator
