Child Immunisation: Norfolk Island

Joint Media Release

25 June 2015

The Administrator, the Hon Gary Hardgrave, and Director of the Norfolk Island Hospital Enterprise, David McCowan, thank the Rotary Club of Norfolk Island for their funding support over recent years for the community's immunisation programme for children aged between 12 months and 15 years.

From this Wednesday, 1 July, immunisation for children within this age group will be fully funded from within the Hospital budget. This will be a free service for all children normally resident on the Island.

The Norfolk Island Administration through Social Services will continue to fund immunisations for children up to 12 months.

Norfolk Island has previously used, and will continue to use, the NSW vaccination schedule. This can be found online at: www.health.nsw.gov.au/immunisation/pages/schedule.aspx or a hardcopy of the schedule can be obtained at the Hospital.

Parents are requested to check their children's immunisation record.  If you have any queries please contact Director, David McCowan, who is also the immunisation supervisor. For scheduled, or catch-up, immunisations please make an appointment at the Hospital.

Further information on immunisation can be found at: www.immunise.health.gov.au/internet/immunise/publishing.nsf/Content/why-immunise. Immunisation is one of the best ways to protect yourself, your children and safeguard the health of future generations.
