Expressions of Interest sought for KAVHA Advisory Committee

Expressions of interest (EOIs) are open for Norfolk Island residents interested in becoming a member of the Kingston and Arthur’s Vale Historic Area (KAVHA) Advisory Committee.

These EOIs are for both community and expert member positions.

The KAVHA Advisory Committee provides expert and community input for the management of KAVHA, working closely with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts to guide the use and future of this historic area.

Community member positions

People with a wide range of interests and backgrounds are encouraged to apply to join the Advisory Committee and represent the views of the community. This includes people with cultural and heritage interests and expertise; people living, working or operating businesses at the site; people with expertise relating to the natural environment, land use management

and planning; and recreational users in the community.

Expert member positions

People with a high degree of skills and experience in the areas of heritage conservation, archaeology, collection management, land use management and planning, Norfolk Island culture, tourism, marketing and related business development are being sought through a separate EOI process for new expert members.

This separate EOI will include acceptance of an application from the Norfolk Island Council of Elders nominee as an expert member on Norfolk Island culture.

The Advisory Committee is chaired by the Administrator of Norfolk Island and typically meets a minimum of twice a year on Norfolk Island.

Additional meetings may occur via tele- or video-conference, once or twice per year. Members will be paid daily sitting fees for official committee meeting days.

Interested community members are encouraged to submit an EOI addressing the assessment criteria, including the names and contact details of two referees. The KAVHA Advisory Committee Information Pack available at kavha.gov.au/projects contains additional information about the assessment criteria, assessment process and the Advisory Committee’s operation.

Please email completed EOIs to KAVHAsecretariat@infrastructure.gov.au by 4.30pm on Monday, 19 December 2022. If you would like to find out more about the KAVHA Advisory Committee, please contact my office on +6723 22152 or at office.administrator@infrastructure.gov.au.
