Updated Vehicle Examination Fees for the Indian Ocean Territories

Number: D30/2021

Date: 30 June 2021

A new schedule of vehicle examination fees is being introduced in the Indian Ocean Territories (IOT) of Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands from 1 July 2021.

Consistent with information from the Administrator of the Territories of Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands to the community on 24 June 2020, the IOT will adopt the fee structure used by the Western Australian (WA) Department of Transport in the Kimberley region for the delivery of vehicle examination services. The Kimberley has been identified as a comparable remote regional location with the IOTs.

Full details about the 2021-22 charges can be found at:

The rates listed in these Determinations take effect from 1 July 2021.

The Australian Government, through the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, provides funding to the WA Department of Transport to assist in the delivery of transport services to the IOT.
