The Australian Government is giving local businesses in the Indian Ocean Territories the chance to explore opportunities associated with the Christmas Island Crane and Mooring Replacement and Upgrade Project.

The works proposed comprise replacement, upgrade, decommissioning and off-island disposal works including construction of

the proposed replacement of the wharf crane at Flying Fish Cove (FFC), mooring systems at FFC and Smith Point, and removal of the crane and remaining mooring components at Nui Nui.

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development’s Capital Works and Major Project’s team is holding an Industry Briefing on the project on Christmas Island next month.

A meeting will be held on Thursday 8 August 2019 from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm at the Christmas Island Recreation Centre function room to provide local subcontractors and suppliers an opportunity to speak directly with representatives of the short-listed tenderers in relation to potential opportunities.

Full details of the project are available for review within the Statement of Evidence submitted to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works, which can be found on the Department’s website at www.regional.gov.au/territories/Christmas/crane-mooring-consultation
