Earthworks at Flying Fish Cove and Jalan Pantai

On 4 January 2018, the Department issued Community Bulletin 02/2018 regarding initial earthworks at Flying Fish Cove for Vocus Communications Limited's (Vocus) Australia-Singapore Cable (ASC) project.

Vocus, responsible for carrying out these works, advises that works will not commence until closure of the road for the Christmas Island red crab migration has been lifted.

Vocus is responsible for acquiring all necessary environmental and development approvals for ASC works, and as part of the broader project, will install supporting telecommunications infrastructure on Christmas Island.

Concerns already raised by community members as a result of Community Bulletin 02/2018 have been provided to Vocus for a response. Any further queries or concerns regarding proposed works should be directed to Vocus via email at legal@vocus.com.au.
