Indian Ocean Territories Administration (IOTA) is pleased to announce the opening of the access road to the Smith Point area. The road will be open to the public from this Saturday morning, 30 June 2018.
We are also pleased to advise Tai Jin House will be reopened from Monday 2 July 2018.
Tai Jin House is a beautiful historical building and houses a wonderful exhibition of cultural heritage from Christmas Island.
Tai Jin House is open every day (including weekends) from 12 noon until 3.00 pm.
Community safety is of upmost importance to IOTA and we are able to open the access road to Smith Point now that the repairs to the Rockfall Fence are complete and the area is safe for public access.
IOTA would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire Community for their patience and support during the time the access road and Tai Jin House were closed.
We trust you will enjoy the benefits of the area as well as view Tai Jin House. When visiting, please remember to always ensure safety on the Smith Point access road by obeying the traffic signal if driving, or being mindful of traffic if walking.
