My Scheduled November Trip to Cocos

Over the past twelve months I have regularly visited Cocos aiming to be there every six weeks to meet with community members.

As previously foreshadowed, and in response to the many requests for me to be on Cocos for a longer duration, I have scheduled this trip to Cocos for 10 days (Tuesday, 13th November to Friday, 23rd November 2018).  

All of the Indian Ocean Territories Regional Development Organisation (RDO) members representing Christmas Island (Mark Bennett, Chris Su, Gordon Thomson and Eric Chong) will also be joining me as this year we will be holding the RDO's Annual General Meeting on Cocos for the first time.

While on Cocos I will be chairing various meetings including the Emergency Management Committee, the Health Advisory Group and the Inter-Agency Coordination Committee.

Other meetings with key stakeholders and business operators are planned including with the Shire, AFP, the Tourism Association and various strategic planning consultations with community members.

As there is no longer a registered marriage celebrant on Cocos, and as Administrator I am authorized to act as a marriage celebrant in the Indian Ocean Territories, I will have the pleasure of performing my first wedding ceremony on Cocos on the 22nd November.
