I am pleased to announce that the Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands airports now have free public WiFi on flight days.

Airport users will be able to access the internet free-of-charge on their iPads, mobile phones and laptops while waiting for their planes and their visitors, friends and family to arrive or depart.

Paul McFarlane, Airports Manager for the Indian Ocean Territories, said "it's a delight to be able to bring the best of other airports to the Indian Ocean Territories".

Free public WiFi is the latest enhancement to airport facilities and services provided by Toll Global Logistics which manages the two Indian Ocean Territories" airports under contract to the Australian Government's Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities.

Other recent improvements include new flight information displays at the terminals and phone charging stations at airport waiting areas. In addition, the Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands airport websites were launched earlier this year and a kiosk in the Cocos airport departure lounge was opened this month.

"Toll is a strong believer in continuous improvement and we embrace that ideology at the airports we operate", said Mr McFarlane.

I congratulate Toll on making free public WiFi available at both the Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands" airports and for their commitment to improving the airport experience in the Indian Ocean Territories.
