Seeking Proposals for the Cocos (Keeling) Islands Strategic Plan

I am pleased as Chair of the Regional Development Organisation (RDO) to invite proposals from consultants to develop the strategic plan for the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.

As announced by Territories Minister John McVeigh during his recent visit to the Indian Ocean Territories, the Australian Government will be providing funding to the Indian Ocean Territories RDO to develop a strategic plan for the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.

This builds on funding already provided to develop a strategic plan for Christmas Island which is currently underway. Developing strategic plans for both Territories at the same time will help identify synergies and support future collaboration between Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.

We are seeking proposals to develop a strategic plan for the Cocos (Keeling) Islands that will provide a ‘road map’ for sustainable and diverse economic activity, improved liveability and strengthened social cohesion. This plan will be developed in consultation with the community.
