Community organisations can now apply for a share of $20 million in grants to support their volunteers.

The Australian Government is inviting applications via an open process to apply for funding to support volunteers under the Volunteer Grants Activity. An eligible organisation can apply for one Volunteer Grant for funding of between $1,000 and $5,000 to assist its volunteers.

Volunteer Grants aim to support the efforts of Australia's volunteers by:

  • providing small amounts of money that organisations and community groups can use to help their volunteers
  • forming part of the Government's work to support the volunteers who help disadvantaged Australian communities and encourage inclusion of vulnerable people in community life.

For more information about eligibility and how to apply, visit www.communitygrants.gov.au/grants/volunteer-grants-2018. Information about applying for this funding round can also be found on www.grants.gov.au/?event=public.home.

Alternatively, contact the Community Grants Hub Hotline on 1800 020 283 and/or support@communitygrants.gov.au. Please quote 2017–917 Volunteer Grants 2018 when you phone or email the Community Grants Hub.

Applications close 2.00pm AEST on 18 September 2018.

IOT community organisations have benefitted from this program in the past and I strongly encourage our volunteer based community groups to take advantage of this important Government initiative.
