Christmas Island Beaches are re-opened—Irukandji Jellyfish Threat has passed

Over the past 24 hours we have continued to monitor Christmas Island's beaches and fortunately there have been no more sightings of the Irukandji jellyfish.

However, jellyfish fragments may still wash up on the beaches.

If you come across any fragments please stay clear of the jellyfish and advise the Territory Controller Steve Wiggins (AFP) of the situation.

As the threat of the Irukandji jellyfish has passed the Territory Controller and I have agreed to re-open Flying Fish Cove and Isabell beach for swimming from 3:00pm Saturday 26th May 2018.

Please ensure family, friends and neighbours are aware of this bulletin. Stay vigilant and report any further sightings to the AFP.
