Relevant: Cocos (Keeling) Islands

Topic: Public Safety

Over the past 24 hours the waterways on Cocos (Keeling) Islands have continued to be monitored and fortunately there have been no more sightings of the lrukandji jellyfish.

However, jellyfish fragments may wash up on the beaches.

If you come across any fragments please stay clear of the jellyfish and advise the Territory Controller Sergeant Anna Swain of the situation.

As the threat of the lrukandji jellyfish has passed the Territory Controller and I have agreed to re-open the following beaches:

  • Trannies Beach
  • the Spot (Surf location)
  • the Yacht Club
  • Scout Park
  • Sandy Point
  • Turtle Beach
  • Cossies Beach

Please ensure family, friends and neighbours are aware of this bulletin. Stay vigilant and report any further sightings.

Thanks in advance
