The review of Norfolk Island's Government Business Enterprises, which has been recently completed, comprehensively details the condition of government owned assets and will inform the development of a future governance framework.

The Administrator, the Hon Gary Hardgrave, and Director of the Norfolk Island Hospital Enterprise, David McCowan, thank the Rotary Club of Norfolk Island for their funding support over recent years for the community's immunisation programme for children aged between 12 months and 15 years.

From this Wednesday, 1 July, immunisation for children within this age group will be fully funded from within the Hospital budget. This will be a free service for all children normally resident on the Island.

Today I am releasing the Norfolk Island Mobile Network report which clearly shows the need for improvements to the Norfolk Island mobile network and infrastructure to better support businesses and the community, and assists in economic growth and opportunities in the tourism sector.

The report was undertaken by GQI Consulting and assessed the existing 2G mobile network, Norfolk Island's mobile network requirements, technical solutions and costs for recommended improvements.

Australian Government Department of Employment and Fair Work Ombudsman staff will be on Island to meet with local employers throughout the week commencing Monday 17 August 2015.

The meetings are a ‘listen and learn’ exercise which will be used to develop the best approach to implement the federal workplace relations system on Norfolk Island.
