Topic: CKI ferry services

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts is pleased to confirm the completion of urgent repairs on the Cahaya Baru, and the resumption of regular ferry services for the Cocos (Keeling) Islands from the afternoon of 30 August 2022.

Thank you to residents, business owners and tourists for your patience and support over the past few days of changes to the ferry service, as we undertook essential work on the Cahaya Baru.

The normal timetable will now be reinstated, as we continue to support a safe and reliable ferry service for the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (CKI).

I would also like to thank the Cocos Islands Cooperative Society for providing the interim ferry services with the RJ Hawke and to LINX Port Services for their specialised work to ensure the ferry remains in service.
