The Issue

The National Broadband Network (NBN) will give Australians access to fast and affordable broadband.

The NBN Expert panel sought views on telecommunications industry access arrangements. This was a requirement of the panel’s terms of reference.

Outcome

The NBN Panel of Experts has recommended changes to the competition laws around NBN Co’s future operations.

Overall, the review found that the broad framework should be retained with some changes. The changes made in 2010–11 to the legislative framework and its operation worked well and were acceptable to stakeholders.
