The Issue

We are seeking feedback on the draft guidelines for Round 2 of the Regional Connectivity Program, a grants program to improve digital connectivity in regional and rural Australia.

On 6 May 2021, the Government announced that new Commonwealth funding will be allocated towards 'place-based' telecommunications infrastructure projects under the RCP. Round 2 is providing up to $112 million (GST incl), including $45 million (GST incl) of dedicated funding for projects in Northern Australia under the Connecting Northern Australia initiative.

The Round 2 draft guidelines outline the eligibility criteria for both participants and activities under the program, as well as the assessment criteria and application process for prospective projects. We welcome feedback on any aspects of the draft guidelines to ensure they meet the program's objectives.

Outcome

The consultation period ended on 29 October 2021. Publicly available submissions from the consultation are available on this page. There were a number of submissions that respondents requested not be made public. The submissions, both public and confidential, will inform the final Round 2 Regional Connectivity Program guidelines. The Round 2 guidelines are now available on GrantConnect.
