To complement the AAPS, the Department has prepared the National Strategic Airspace: National Aviation Policy Issues Paper (Issues Paper) which considers airspace policy more broadly including a national approach for airspace classification.
It also examines the current suitability of Australian airspace administration in light of advancing airspace technologies, and emerging users such as remotely piloted aircraft, advanced air mobility and high-altitude operations.
The Issues Paper is a starting point for discussion on the future of Australian airspace, and will inform development of Australia’s Future Airspace Framework to be developed and implemented by CASA.
