You can use a UN approval to demonstrate compliance for certain national road vehicle standards (the Australian Design Rules) when applying for a vehicle type approval, component type approval or Model Report.
This video shows you how to use a UN approval in ROVER to demonstrate compliance for a vehicle type approval against Australian Design Rule (ADR) 2/01 - Side Door Latches and Hinges.

Narrator: In this video I’m going to show you how to use a UN approval in ROVER to demonstrate compliance against ADR 02/01 - Side Door Latches and Hinges. You’ve already entered your unique document reference number.
[Image shows the cursor selecting ‘UN Approval’ under the Compliance demonstrated title and then the image shows the cursor selecting ‘Black Betty’ and ‘Raspberry Candy’ under the Variant title]
Now select ‘UN Approval’ as the compliance demonstration method, and select the variants covered by the one or more UN approvals you’ll be using.
[Image shows the cursor selecting the ‘plus’ buttons on the ‘UN Approval’ page and drop downs appearing and then the cursor selecting the ‘minus’ button and one of the drop downs disappearing]
Use the ‘plus’ button to add UN approvals. You can easily remove them as well by clicking this box and the ‘minus’ button. Enter the details of the UN approval you are using. Please type carefully. The generic compliance information application form will not warn you if you are not entering a correct UN approval regulation and amendment number for the specific ADR.
[Image shows another drop down appearing with details entered in all fields]
For each UN approval, you will need to upload a copy of an extract of the approval that links the UN approval number with the vehicle you are applying for.
[Images shows the cursor selecting the ‘Upload Now’ button, then the ‘Choose File’ button, selecting a file, and then selecting the ‘Start Upload’ button, and text appears: Please note:
The UN approval extract doesn’t need to be uploaded if it is available on DETA (Database for the Exchange of Type Approval)]
Click the ‘Upload Now’ button, choose the file from the location you’ve got it saved on your computer – and click the ‘Start Upload’ button.
[Image changes to show the ‘UN approval’ page once again]
Further guidance regarding this extract is available in the Guide to Vehicle type approvals.
[Image shows the cursor selecting the ‘Next’ arrow and then image changes to show a ‘Comments’ page and the image shows the cursor selecting the ‘Save and Continue’ button]
When you’ve added all the UN approvals with the extracts, click ‘Save and Continue’. You can provide any further comments if you like.
[Image changes to show a blank screen and then image changes to show the ‘Compliance information’ page with the fields completed and text appears: Processing your request, Please Wait]
When you return to the ‘Compliance information’ page, you will see that your information has been updated.
And that’s how you enter in UN approval information into ROVER.
