Policy Statement of Intent—Section 287 of the Telecommunications Act 1997

This Policy Statement of Intent is intended to provide guidance on Section 287 of the Telecommunications Act 1997, in relation to the disclosure of protected information about telecommunications customers. The department has developed this Statement to assist law enforcement and other emergency services to make requests for information from telecommunications providers, to find missing people where delays in obtaining their information can be detrimental.
