Impacts of 5G on productivity and economic growth

Australians increasingly consider mobile connectivity to be essential, and the next generation of mobile technology — 5G — is expected to improve consumer experiences and raise business productivity.

5G will do this by better enabling a range of applications such as robotics and the Internet of Things.

The Bureau of Communication and Arts Research’s paper sheds light on what the benefits and costs of 5G might be from a productivity and economic growth perspective. The paper finds that 5G could improve productivity across the economy and increase gross domestic product per capita by up to $2,000 by 2030.
