Roadmap to improve digital inclusion for First Nations communities

The long-term roadmap launched by the First Nations Digital Inclusion Advisory Group is the result of nearly 2 years of engagement with First Nations communities and organisations, governments and industry representatives across Australia.

The First Nations Digital Inclusion roadmap recommends practical actions that government and industry can take in the immediate, medium and long term to close the digital divide and support First Nations digital empowerment and excellence.

The roadmap considers the three components of digital inclusion – access, affordability, and digital ability, as well as access to information and media, data, and governance and advocacy.

It builds on the Advisory Group’s initial report, the First Nations Digital Inclusion Plan and the Priority Reforms in the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

The Government has begun delivering on some of the recommendations from the Advisory Group’s initial report, with $68 million in the 2024-25 Budget for First Nations digital inclusions projects.
